It’s another boy! Laguna Beach star Alex Murrel welcomed her second child with husband Kyle Johnson.
The 31-year-old reality star gave birth to Kase Robert Johnson in Newport Beach, California, on Wednesday, August 1, according to Entertainment Tonight. The little boy weighed in at 8 pounds, 13 ounces, and was 21 inches long. He joins the couple’s 2-year-old son, Levi.
The pair, who wed in October 2014, struggled to find the perfect moniker for their second bundle of joy. “Boys’ names have always been so hard for us,” they told ET. “Levi has such a strong name, so we felt a lot of pressure to give this baby the same type of name. We had a couple names picked out, but none of them felt right. The name came to us about a week before we had him.”
Ultimately, Murrel revealed that they settled on a name that paid tribute to the little fella’s dad: “My husband was always known as ‘KJ’ growing up, so we really wanted to have another little ‘KJ’ and that’s how we landed on Kase Johnson.”
Kase also shares a unique connection to his big brother, whose birthday falls just days before the new arrival’s. “Levi just turned 2 and we know how special Kase is going to be to him,” Murrel explained. “He would kiss and love my belly my whole pregnancy and now having Kase here, Levi is just over the moon and loves being a big brother. Being so close in age is such a blessing for both of them, and with their birthdays days apart, they are destined to have a very special relationship.”
The former MTV star documented her pregnancy on Instagram, sharing photos of her growing baby bump on vacations and at baby showers. “To me, being a mother means being completely and totally overwhelmed (in the best possible way) by love, joy, responsibility, and selflessness,” she wrote in May. “It’s filled with sleepless nights, big belly laughs, snuggles, lots of ‘booboo’s’ and has made life more colorful than I ever knew it could be.”
