Something to sing about! Macklemore’s wife, Tricia Davis, gave birth to the couple’s second child, a girl, in mid-March.
Macklemore revealed the happy news during an interview with the Irish radio station Spin 1038 on April 4. Asked how he celebrated St. Patrick’s Day, he said, “I spent it in the hospital with my brand new daughter, who was born right before St. Patrick’s Day.”
The “Thrift Shop” rapper, 34, announced on Instagram in September that he and the music manager, also 34, had another baby on the way. He shared a cute video with Davis and their 2-year-old daughter, Sloane Ava Simone, next to a cake and blue and pink balloons.
“Tricia is pregnant, and today we are going to find out the gender of our child,” Macklemore (real name Ben Haggerty) said in the clip, though he did not actually reveal the sex of the baby at the time.
The Grammy winner and Davis quietly tied the knot in June 2015, nearly two months before they went public with the news of their wedding and firstborn’s arrival. “We had our beautiful baby girl on May 29th… Got married on June 27th once the Supreme Court ruled same sex couples could too,” she wrote on Instagram in August 2015. “This year has been incredible so far, we love you.”
Macklemore opened up about fatherhood on “Growing Up,” his collaboration with Ryan Lewis and Ed Sheeran. “They say girls shouldn’t be tough / And moms should raise their kids at home / But baby, I know that that isn’t true / ‘Cause your momma’s the toughest person I know,” he rapped. “I wanna raise you to be like her / And watch you show the world how to do it on your own.”
