Maksim Chmerkovskiy ‘Can’t Wait for More’ Kids With Peta Murgatroyd (Exclusive)

At just 13 months old, little Shai Chmerkovskiy, the son of Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd, has already achieved frequent flyer status. “Looking back at that first year of his life, he’s traveled quite a bit,” Chmerkovskiy says in the new issue of Us Weekly.

The progeny of the Dancing With the Stars pros has already been to his mom’s native Australia and to Canada, and crisscrossed the country tagging along on the first part of mom and dad’s dance tour with uncle Val Chmerkovskiy. He’s about to log more miles, as they get ready for Confidential’s second leg, launching March 19 in Springfield, Missouri.

All of that is OK with his parents. Since welcoming Shai, Murgatroyd, 31, admits nothing is simple anymore. “There’s so much going on in my head as I wake up — but it makes you a better person and it’s awesome.” Plus, as dad notes, traveling together is “amazing and rewarding.”

The couple, who wed in July, adore parenthood so much, in fact, that they want to expand their brood. “I can’t wait for more,” says Chmerkovskiy, 38. While Murgatroyd agrees, she’s putting a limit on the number: “He would have a baby every year if he could! That means I would be constantly fat. I think three is a good number.”

Her timeline is slightly longer too. “Maybe in a year it would be nice,” she says of welcoming a second baby. “They would still be close in age.” She also reveals she’d love to have a girl — but not just for the pink clothes. “I just love Shai so much, I don’t know how I would share that with another boy,” she admits.

If they have their way, mom and dad will raise a polite young man. Says Chmerkovskiy, “I think he’s gonna be a very good, respectful boy.” Especially because mom won’t have it any other way: “That is one thing I won’t ever tolerate — rudeness,” she says. “He has to be good to women.”

As for now, she’s simply enjoying his milestones. “I love seeing him grow, and all the changes,” she says. Her favorite thing so far about parenthood? “Honestly, it sounds corny, but it’s the amount of love that they give you when you come home or when you wake up in the morning to this huge grin and cuddles.”
