Michael Phelps and his wife, Nicole Johnson, announced on Sunday, March 31, that they are expecting their third child.
“#3 on the way!” the Olympic champion, 33, captioned an Instagram photo of their two sons, Boomer, 2, and Beckett, 13 months, sitting in a toy car decorated with gold balloons spelling out the word BABY. “Can’t wait to see the journey that this takes us on!!! #luckyman #boyorgirl? #P3.”
Johnson, 33, also shared the pic on her account, writing, “Oops we did it again I get to be a mama x3!! #furbabymama x2 #p3 #herewegoagain.”
The couple also shared similar pics from the cute photo shoot on their sons’ Instagram pages.
Boomer’s photo included the couple’s two French bulldogs, Juno and Legend, along with the caption, “I asked mom for a new baby for Christmas last year and …. well my wish finally came true!!! I wonder if I’m gonna have little brother or a little sister? #P3.”
The 23-time gold medallist, who secretly wed Johnson in June 2016 after dating on and off for eight years, spoke to Us Weekly last year about his two boys.
“They are doing really well. Booms is a great big brother and wants to help with whatever Nicole and I are doing with Beckett,” he told Us.
To make sure that Boomer, who turns 3 in May, doesn’t get jealous, Phelps makes sure to carve out alone time with his eldest child. “Boomer and I will get early in the morning and I will make his breakfast,” he said. “We start our day together.”
Phelps, who retired from competitive swimming after the 2016 Olympics in Rio, told Parade magazine last April that he and his former beauty queen wife talked about “having kids close in age” so that “they’re able to grow up together.”
