Motherhood looks good on Mindy Kaling. The actress, who gave birth to her first child 10 weeks ago, made her first public appearance on Thursday, February 22,at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. But sadly, she left her, er, “Minnie-me” Katherine Swati at home.
The 38-year-old actress was joined by A Wrinkle in Time costars — including Reese Witherspoon and Storm Reid for a surprise screening of their new film. The women — Kaling dubbed herself “Mindy Mouse” in one Instagram snap — posed for a sweet shot outside Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
Kaling was pregnant during the final season of The Mindy Project, which aired its last episode in November 2017. One month later, she welcomed daughter Katherine on December 15. She still has not revealed the father.
The Office alum paid tribute to her late mother, Swati Roysicar, by naming her baby after her mom.
It’s not the first time Kaling has honored her mom, who died of pancreatic cancer in January 2012. The comedian’s hit show was inspired in part by her mother’s years as an Ob-Gyn at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston.
Kaling revealed that she was pregnant while appearing on the Today show in August 2017. “My mother was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us, just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did,” she said at the time. “My career choice was not something she was familiar with and she was just so supportive of that. And if I could give that to my child, just the open-mindedness, I’d be so happy.”
