Mommy’s little bookworm! For Odette Annable’s daughter, Charlie, storytime is all the time. “She’s always been into books, and now she goes into her little basket of books in her playroom and she’ll pick the one that she wants, she’ll sit on my lap and she’ll open the book for me to read to her,” the actress tells Us of her 14-month-old with actor Dave Annable. “It’s very cute! The Very Hungry Caterpillar, she really loves, and any Dr. Seuss.”
And Charlie is already an overachiever: She’s learning Spanish! “I read to her in Spanish, sing to her in Spanish, speak to her in Spanish,” says the bilingual Pure Genius star, 31. “I feel like she almost understands Spanish more than she does English!”
But, rest assured, Annable isn’t one of those superintense moms. “I’m pretty easygoing,” says the star, who admits she’s loosened up a lot over the past year. “We were having everybody put the hand sanitizer on before they held her, and now I’m like, Mmm, don’t care about any of that. Germs are good, she’s got to build her immunity. [But] I was a stickler.”
One thing she is still a stickler about is Charlie’s schedule: “She’s a really good sleeper, I feel like, because I stuck to a routine, so I don’t really want to change that.”
Indeed, shut eye is serious business in this household. “We put the baby down and then we fall asleep!” she says. “We’re in bed by 7 p.m. and we’re so happy about it. I don’t know if we’ve even watched a movie or a TV show since we had the baby. We’re really pooped by the end of the day, but we’re having so much fun.”
