Sterling K. Brown and his wife of 10 years, actress Ryan Michelle Bathe, are ridiculously cute together. The couple met while living in the same dorm at Stanford University in 1998 and went on to have two beautiful boys. But the This Is Us star, 42, admitted sometimes Bathe, 41, wishes he was more like his character Randall Pearson.
“Every once in a while, we’ll be sitting around the house, and I will be not my perfect husband self. And she’s like, ‘I need you to stop, and I need you to do what Randall would do now,’” Brown told Us Weekly at the L.A. premiere of his dystopian thriller Hotel Artemis. “I’m like, ‘You’re right. OK. I get it.’”
Brown took home the 2017 Emmy for Best Actor in a Drama for his portrayal of Randall, a fiercely loyal family man adopted by white parents as a newborn. Bathe appeared in season 1 of the series as a mom who confronted Rebecca Pearson (Mandy Moore) at the pool about young Randall’s (Lonnie Chavis) hair.
Just like Randall, Brown is completely devoted to the Army Wives alum and their young sons Andrew and Amare. But he’s looking forward to a few minutes of alone time on Father’s Day on June 17. “I want to start off spending the day with my kids,” he told Us. ”And if my wife takes them for two hours, and I get to watch one sporting event, that’s all I need. That’s a good day.”
Hotel Artemis opens in theaters on June 8.
