Courtney Hill knew she had found “the one” when she met Brian Hill at an Irish pub on a snowy night in 2011. “It was love at first sight,” she tells Us Weekly. “I had never had luck dating in the past. He was my knight in shining armor.” On July 14, 2012, Courtney and Brian — a retired Navy corpsman and Bronze Star recipient — became husband and wife. They later welcomed a daughter, Reagan, who is now 21 months old.
But on February 2, 2016, the unthinkable happened. Brian, 40, was killed in a car accident in Oklahoma while making a delivery for a lumber company. Two days later, Courtney, 30, learned she was pregnant. “I prayed and cried when I saw the two pink stripes on the test,” Courtney tells Us. “I said, ‘This is a blessing. It’s a miracle. I lost Brian, but I have a child, another one who will carry on his name.'”
But it wasn’t just one baby growing inside of her. On March 8, a month after Brian’s death, Courtney rushed to the ER because she feared she was having a miscarriage. That is when the Sherman, Texas–based widow learned she was pregnant with triplets. “The doctor said, ‘Honey, do you know how to read an ultrasound?’” Courtney says. “Then she turned the screen and there were three big black sacs with three floating embryos in each one.”
The stay-at-home mom, who is due in October 2016, is determined to keep Brian’s memory alive. “Reagan asks for her daddy every day,” she reveals. “I tell her he’s in heaven and that he loves her. We blow kisses to heaven.”
Courtney’s twin sister, Amanda Willey, started a GoFundMe for her sister last week to help the Hill family.
