Will 666 Park Avenue be a hit? The cast sure hopes so!
The new horror/drama show made its big premiere Sunday night on ABC. At a special screening in NYC on Sept. 24, Us Weekly chatted with series stars Dave Annable, Vanessa Williams and Terry O'Quinn about why they love filming the scary show.
666 Park Avenue is about a luxury apartment building, The Drake, on Manhattan's Upper East Side where the building's owner, Gavin Doran, can make your dreams come true — for a price.
"I read it and there's so much soul," Annable, 33, told Us of the script and why he joined the cast. "It's so different and dark, and I loved that ABC took it there. It's spooky, soapy, has an edge, and the guy from Lost [Terry O'Quinn] is in it. All winning."
Former Lost star O'Quinn admitted to Us that "there is Lost parallel" with his new character on 666 Park Avenue. "I think the role is intriguing because my character wields a lot of power and no one knows the true source of the power — if he's the devil or not," the 60-year-old actor said of playing Gavin Doran. "More likely its from the [building], The Drake. Obviously, he's a predator and full of secrets. They're even kept from me. I don't even know who he is quite yet."
Williams, 49, plays the wife of O'Quinn's character, Olivia Doran. "I hope we don't scare people away by saying it's the horror genre because there are some unfortunate things that happen while at The Drake," the former Ugly Betty star explained. "But I hope people get lost in the world we're creating, which is one of opulence and privilege and aspiration. That's where the drama stems from and that's why I was drawn to the show."
For Annable, filming the horror type show was a completely new experience for him. "You're in front of the green screen and you're being chased by a whole lot of things, poor Rachael [Taylor] is always getting chased by everything. It's so cool and different," he said. "We're basically making a little horror movie every week and its been a lot of fun to be a part of."
After the premiere, the former Brothers & Sisters actor tweeted, "Thank you all so much for the support! We love making this show! Did everyone have fun? It only gets better!"
