Gabriel “Gabe” Brown’s estranged wife, Raquell Brown, is accusing the Alaskan Bush People star of abuse, claiming she felt “forced” into their marriage and more in newly filed court docs.
“I worry for my children’s safety, and well-being every day,” Raquell claimed in her divorce declaration, obtained exclusively by Us. “During the time that I’ve been married to Gabe I’ve been severely abused emotionally, mentally, financially and at times physically.”
Raquell filed the declaration on September 22 as part of her request for temporary court orders in their pending divorce case, alleging “emotional and mental abuse” from Gabe, 36, “during the first four months” of their relationship.
Raquell explained in the filing that she was introduced to Gabe through his sister Rain Brown via social media in December 2017 before meeting in person the following February. (Us exclusively confirmed on Tuesday that Raquell filed for divorce from Gabe after seven years of marriage.)
She alleged that at the start of their relationship, “Fights were started on purpose and breakups were threatened.”
Raquell further claimed that she and her two children from a prior relationship were “forced to stay in a travel trailer with no electricity or water” on his family’s property because Gabe allegedly “would not leave his family and wished to stay close to them no matter what.”
“Gabe didn’t like being far from his family. He said he always wanted to be within the same house or walking distance of them,” she revealed in docs. “This was another topic that was regularly brought up and caused more emotional abuse as I was seen as the reason for him being apart from his family.”
She recalled one alleged fight in 2018, where Rain, 23, allegedly “screamed in my face” while driving to Noah Brown’s wedding in Idaho as Gabe leaned over from the backseat and yelled at Raquell to “respond to my sister or he would break up with me.”
Gabe’s estranged wife said when she pulled over she was “emotionally drained from crying.”
Raquell claimed she was called “selfish, a bitch and a horrible person,” during the incident and following the trip, “the verbal, mental and emotional abuse began to rise.”
Before Raquell married Gabe in January 2019, she remembered calling her mom crying moments before signing the marriage certificate.
“I told her that I didn’t want to sign until she was present and felt forced into the marriage,” Raquell alleged, explaining in her filing that she “reluctantly” signed the paperwork and was “promised a bigger wedding with my family present later in June.”
Raquell — who welcomed three kids with Gabe in 2019, 2021, and 2025 — claimed that she and her children experienced “verbal, emotional, mental and physical abuse” throughout their relationship.
“I was called a bitch on many occasions, lazy, selfish, a terrible mother, terrible daughter, and terrible friend,” she alleged. “I was told that my parents didn’t love me and that only Gabe would put up with me. I was told that everyone would leave me and not come back.”
She claimed Gabe “made me push everyone away and stop talking to people because ‘things would get out.’ Because they were famous.”
Raquell further claimed that her children were subjected to “physical abuse masked as discipline,” alleging that they had “red handprints on their bottoms” and were yelled at “inches away from their faces.”
Amid the alleged trauma, Raquell said her mental health began to deteriorate. She claimed that during the coronavirus pandemic the family “struggled for food, money and formula” and when Gabe was filming Alaskan Bush People, he “regularly left us without gas for the generator [and] water.”
After Gabe’s father, Billy Brown, died in February 2021, Raquell claimed the “abuse got worse” and Gabe began having “night terrors.”
Gabe’s alleged episodes led him to “punch, kick and choke” her while she was sleeping, according to Raquell.
“There have been many occasions while pregnant that Gabe would yell at me, follow me to the bathroom while I locked the doors to escape him,” she claimed. “Even locking my children in their bedroom and preventing me from entering to calm them down.”
Once Alaskan Bush People went on hiatus in 2022, Gabe got a new job and Raquell claimed he would “often forget us at home without water or food.”
She claimed during that time, their relationship hit an all-time low as Gabe allegedly “began growing distant and short” and increasingly started to yell “louder” at her and the kids.
“He would hit them and yell in their faces,” Raquell alleged, claiming she filed a restraining order against Gabe in April 2023 amid the alleged abuse and previous separation — but it was dismissed.
Raquell and Gabe reconciled in March 2024, but their dynamic didn’t get better.
“The environment had gotten depressing and toxic to me and the children. During times of arguments in the house, Gabe would do a roll call for everyone in the house to line up, as if we were in the military,” she claimed. “We couldn’t speak unless spoken to, we couldn’t leave until he dismissed us.”
Raquell revealed that she was “overwhelmed and stressed” after their separation made recent headlines, but Gabe told her they were “still together.” The stress, however, sent her into depression.
“I made a mistake thinking the only way I could get out of my marriage would be suicide,” she stated. “I was made to believe that if I wanted a divorce, Gabe would take my children and everything away from me.”
Raquell noted, “I regret this decision and am ashamed of myself for it.”
Us has reached out to Raquell’s attorney and Gabe for comment.
Us previously confirmed that Raquell and Gabe began living apart in April before she filed for divorce this month. Raquell currently resides in Minnesota, while Gabe lives in Washington.
