Former All That star Christy Knowings has reportedly died after suffering an asthma attack.
According to a family member who spoke with TMZ, Knowings was hospitalized on Friday, August 7, after the attack. She experienced brain damage and was placed on life support.
Knowings died on Tuesday, August 11, when her family made the difficult decision to take her off life support. She was 46.
“While I have not personally confirmed it, I haven’t heard back from her either,” Knowings’ manager tells Us. “Christy was a multi-talented lady. Whether it was singing, acting or dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work.”
Fellow All That alum Kenan Thompson reached to the news via Instagram, writing, “Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!!”
Knowings received a break in the industry when she appeared in Rosie O’Donnell’s sketchy-comedy special called And Now This.
Soon after, the actress and comedian joined Nickelodeon’s All That in 1997 and performed in short comedic sketches. One memorable scene was when she teamed up with Amanda Bynes in a segment called “Whateverrr!”
“My favorite moment on set was when I started to do this character in season 6 named Gloria Bankhead. She was an over-the-top Martha Stewart. I had never played any character like her!” Knowings told Bustle in 2019. “I just remember being on set and being her all-day long. Everybody loved it! The writers, the stage managers, everybody was just like, ‘Hi Gloria!’”
Her last TV role, per IMDb, came in 2011 when she guest starred on Sesame Street alongside her twin brother, Chris Knowings.
Although Christy did not regularly post on social media, her last Instagram upload before her death came in June when she celebrated a magazine feature.
“Honored to be featured as a Special Guest during the Black Beat Magazine Relaunch & BET Weekend Celebration,” she wrote at the time. “Looking forward to celebrating culture, music and entertainment. See you June 28! #BlackBeatMagazine.”
Christy also celebrated her past on Nickelodeon by sharing cast reunions and memories of her time on All That.
“This Sharpie was given to me by @sinbadbad while we were signing autographs at an event a few years ago,” she wrote via Instagram in January 2023. “He taught me a lesson, sitting next to me that day: he said, ‘Never give your power away.’ I mean, I knew that, but coming from him, it hit differently. I cherish his blue Sharpie, (I’m the sentimental type) and am reminded of his wisdom every time I see it 🙏🏽✨💕.”
