As music fans around the world continue to mourn the loss of Amy Winehouse, new details have emerged regarding the 27-year-old soul singer's sudden death.
According to Chris Goodman, a friend and rep for Winehouse, the "Valerie" singer's body was discovered Saturday by a security guard who had been appointed to look after her.
"She was in her bedroom after saying she wanted to sleep, and when he went to wake her he found she wasn't breathing," Goodman tells TMZ. "He called the emergency services straight away. He was very shocked. At this stage no one knows how she died. She died alone in bed."
Winehouse is survived by her parents, Mitch and Janis, and her older brother, Alex. In a statement released Sunday, the Winehouse family told Us Weekly they have "been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece. She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time."
