The end of one of Hollywood’s most legendary love stories. Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt after two years of marriage, her lawyer confirmed to Us Weekly.
Jolie Pitt, 41, listed the separation as September 15, 2016. She is asking for physical custody of their six children and requesting that Pitt, 52, receive visitation. She is being represented by famed celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser.
The Oscar winners were last photographed together at the Gelson’s Markets in Los Feliz, California, on July 6. Jolie Pitt wore a white maxidress while Pitt wore a white T-shirts, khakis and a fedora.
Separately, Pitt was most recently spotted at Zadar Airport in Sibenik, Croatia, on September 2, where he was meeting with investors and toured a real estate development. United Nations special envoy Jolie Pitt traveled to Syria solo and visited a refugee camp on September 9. She was photographed hugging a group of children.
Jolie Pitt and the World War Z 2 actor famously met on set of the 2005 comedy Mr. & Mrs Smith. (They shared the screen again in 2015’s romantic drama By the Sea, which Jolie directed.) Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time of their meeting, but the pair ended their five-year marriage in 2005.
“I don’t find it painful,” the Friends alum, 47, told CBS This Morning of the high-profile breakup in January 2015. When asked if they keep in touch, she replied: “We’ve exchanged good wishes and all that sort of stuff to each other, but it’s not a constant thing.” Us Weekly exclusively confirmed in August 2015 that Aniston married Leftovers hunk Justin Theroux.
Back in 2014, it was reported that Pitt and Jolie Pitt quietly married in France after nine years together. However, she would later reveal to Italian magazine IO Donna in January 2015 that the two tied the knot in California beforehand. Jolie Pitt’s wedding veil included artwork from their children Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 8.
Pitt and Jolie Pitt recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary together. As Us Weekly exclusively revealed, the two spent the night at the Beverly Hills Hotel in L.A. last month. “It was just the two of them,” a source told Us. “They left the next day.”
