Better late than never? After a dramatic detour to wife Phaedra Parks' home on Wednesday, Sept. 10, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Apollo Nida has officially reported to prison to begin his eight-year sentence for fraud.
Nida himself shared a video via Instagram just before turning himself in to the authorities. "Well, everyone, I have finally arrived at the penitentiary. I'm about to go asunder," he said in the short clip. "Thank you for the support and prayer. Stay tuned, and you'll hear from me shortly."
A spokesman for the prison in Lexington, Ky., confirmed to Us that the 35-year-old reality star had checked in as an inmate, though details about when he arrived were not disclosed.
Nida, who pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to commit mail, wire, and bank fraud, was supposed to start his prison sentence on Wednesday. However, as Us Weekly previously reported, he instead showed up at Parks' house, where he picked a fight with his wife and yelled at her for not coming to his sentencing in July.
"It was the most bizarre thing," a source previously told Us of the incident, adding that "everyone thought he was already in jail." Bravo cameras were filming at the time, so "it's all on tape," the source said.
