Fans of promising young Mexican singer Ariel Camacho are in mourning, after the former YouTube sensation was killed in a car crash in his native Sinaloa, Mexico, on Wednesday, Feb. 25. He was 22. Camacho’s passing was confirmed by his DEL Records label.
"My heart is broken by the loss of Ariel Camacho," Angel Del Villar, the label’s president and founder, told Billboard in a statement Wednesday. "I knew he was going to transform the genre in Mexico and the United States. Millions of people would have become fans and would have gotten to know the man I did."
Camacho (born Jose Ariel Camacho Barraza) was on tour promoting the rerelease of his album El Karma at the time of his highway accident.
Known for his guitar skills, Camacho fronted the band Los Plebes del Rancho. El Karma, released in 2014, was his first album.
