Red carpet official? With dating rumors circulating for nearly a month now, Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross attended their first event together in New York City on Tuesday, July 30.
Ross supported Simpson at the launch of the Jessica Simpson Fall 2013 Campaign, which she was hosting at downtown hotspot Above Allen. The twosome walked in hand-in-hand and happily posed for a beautiful shot together with the city skyline in the background. Simpson, 28, wore a pretty turquoise dress, while Ross, 24, wore a gray suit jacket over a deep V-neck shirt.
Simpson was first spotted with Diana Ross' son in early July, causing rumors to spread that the two were dating. The stars were photographed leaving Teddy's nightclub at the Roosevelt Hotel together on July 1, and were seen grabbing lunch together the next day in West Hollywood. "Evan and Ashlee have been friends for a really long time, probably ten years," a source told Us Weekly. "They know each other from the club scene and have tons of mutual friends."
Apparently, that friendship has now grown into love. A source close to Simpson tells Us Weekly that the she is, in fact, dating Ross. "It helps that they were friends first. They have a long bond," the insider explains. "They already know each other really well."
Simpson was last dating Boardwalk Empire actor Vincent Piazza, but the couple called it quits in November 2012 after a year and a half of dating. The "Bat for a Heart" singer is mom to son Bronx, 4, with ex-husband Pete Wentz.
