Classic Monday. Mattie Rogers, an aspiring Olympic weight lifter, suffered a training fail on Monday, March 28.
While attempting to lift an extremely heavy-looking barbell, the 20-year-old athlete lost her balance and the weights started rolling toward the front of the gym before crashing through a glass window.
“Happy f–king Monday,” Rogers perfectly captioned an Instagram video that caught the moment.
In the video, after Rogers loses her balance and drops the weight, she appears to realize what is about to happen. Her spotters can be heard in the background yelling, “Get it! Get it!” before the the glass can be heard shattering.
Rogers was left to sweep up the broken glass with a broom and dust pan.
“OKAYYYY so today was actually a really productive snatch day before I decided to destroy everything…. And before @camargo_oly wanted to kill me, but it’s fine I’m fine everything’s fine #GETSOME,” she added alongside another Instagram video of herself successfully completing the move.
Rogers was surprised to find that her snafu went viral. “Break records?? Who cares. Break a window?? NEWS WORTHY. WORLD GOES CRAZY. What a time to be alive,” she tweeted on Tuesday, March 29.
In a lengthy Facebook post on Thursday, the athlete defended herself and added that “it’s not that unusual to have weightlifting fails.”
