A day to remember! Bindi Irwin has revealed that it wasn't just herself and pro-dance partner Derek Hough who had her late dad Steve Irwin on their minds on Sunday, Nov. 15 — it was the entire cast of the Dancing With the Stars!
As Us Weekly reported previously, the 17-year-old actress and conservationist paid her own tribute to her dad on Sunday, sharing a sweet photo via Instagram and calling him the "greastest dad on earth."
But it turns out it wasn't just Bindi and her dance partner Hough (who also gave the late, great Crocodile Hunter a shout-out on social media on Sunday) who were celebrating her dad's life — it was the entire cast!
"What was amazing was it was our very first Steve Irwin Day away from home and so the whole DWTS studio put on their khaki shirts," Bindi told Us after surviving week ten of the show's 21st season (and making it into the finals!). "They had their Wildlife Warriors khaki shirts and it meant the world," the excited teen continued. "These guys were all representing with their khaki!"
Not that it takes an official day of remembrance for Bindi to honor her dad. "For me, every single day is a chance to be able to make him proud and follow in his footsteps," she explained, wisely. "Every day is a gift and we have to use it to do great things.”
And one thing's for sure, Bindi knows exactly what she's going to be doing as soon as her DWTS mission is over — and it's something her dad would definitely appreciate.
"I'm so ready to just sit in a tree!" she revealed. "Truthfully, I'm ready to go and lay under a tree and hug all the animals that I haven't seen in three months because they are my true family!"
