“He took me hiking up to our favorite spot,” Hugh Hefner’s ex-girlfriend, 42, told Us. “Long story short, he faked me out! There was a fake spider ring in the dirt and I was like, ‘That's so weird. How weird!’ Because we talked about this spider ring I really liked and now there's this fake one here. Anyway, I was putting it back in the dirt because it wasn't mine…and I turned around and he was on one knee pulling out the real ring.”

“I was surprised by the actual proposal,” the blonde continued. “I just wanted something different, something unique, something that reflected more of my personality, so [the ring] was perfect,” she added of her engagement bling, which is shaped like a spider. “I don't have a love for spiders. There's all these weird stories like, she has a love for spiders, it's a black widow. It's none of that, it's just something different, something that reflected my personality.”

When it comes to wedding planning, for now, the former reality star is enjoying being engaged. “I’ve thought about [some] stuff, but nothing serious yet, just like, ‘Oh, it would be fun if we did a destination, it would be fun if we did Halloween theme,’…I’ll probably start doing little things soon, like getting together a guest list.”

Marquardt first revealed that she and her director beau of seven years were engaged via an Instagram post on Oct. 1.

“There's a new excitement,” she gushed to Us. “We've been together [for awhile], not that things are boring or anything like that, but now it just feels extra exciting. We have this great thing to plan together with our family and friends, and we can be creative and fun and have everyone together. I love that.”
