Giving it another go! Bristol Palin’s ex-fiancé Dakota Meyer hinted in an Instagram post on Tuesday, June 7, that they might be back together.
The 27-year-old Marine, who shares 5-month-old daughter Sailor with Palin, posted a photo of the pair smiling and looking cozy in a tropical locale. Palin appears to be wearing a sparkler on her ring finger. “On one hand, we know that everything happens for a reason, and there are no mistakes of coincidences,” he wrote. "On the other hand, we learn that we can never give up, knowing that with the right tools and energy, we can reverse any decree or karma. So, which is it? Let the Light decide, or never give up? The answer is: both.”
The on-off couple have recently posed together in several photos. Last week, the Kentucky native shared an Instagram pic of them on a fishing trip and captioned it, “Had an amazing time halibut fishing with @bsmp2 yesterday. #lifecouldntbebetter.” He has also made frequent appearances on Palin’s Instagram account — including one photo where she calls him “b a b y d a d d y b f f.”
Back in May 2015, Palin, 25, and Meyer called off their wedding just a week before the big day, and their daughter was born seven months later. After Sailor’s birth, they went through a short custody battle. Meyer requested joint custody, but Dancing With the Stars alum Palin sought primary custody with “reasonable” visitation and no overnight visits. They settled the legal drama in February and were awarded joint physical and legal custody of Sailor.
A few months ago, the abstinence advocate, who is the eldest daughter of Sarah Palin, suggested she was mending relationships with Meyer and ex-fiancé Levi Johnston, with whom she shares 7-year-old son Tripp. Bristol and Johnston, who split in 2009 and had a brief reunion in 2010, recently ironed out details of a settlement that will give them joint custody of their son.
In a statement to Us Weekly in February, Bristol said, “Every child deserves two loving parents, so I will continue to encourage that no matter what. I have never, and will never, keep them from having a positive relationship with their fathers. I did not ‘lose’ any custody case — my son has always spent most of his time with me and he will continue to do so, he is happy, healthy and knows both of his parents love him. Matthew 5:11.”
