Britney Spears and Jason Trawick are going their separate ways. The couple of three years have called off their engagement, sources confirm to Us Weekly.
Insiders tell Us the split has been a long time coming, but both Trawick and Spears, 31, wanted to wait to make an official announcement until his conservatorship was disbanded.
The former X Factor judge, mother to sons Preston, 7, and Jayden, 6, began dating Trawick in 2009. She accepted his proposal two years later, in December 2011. (The singer has been married twice before, to pal Jason Alexander and ex Kevin Federline.) Over the past several months, however, there have been increasing reports about trouble between the two.
"The romance is gone," one insider told Us Weekly. Trawick "puts her on speakerphone so friends can hear her nagging."
Another source confirmed the turbulence, saying, "I'd be shocked if they got married."
News of the split comes on the same day Spears announced her official resignation from The X Factor. "I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it's time for me to get back in the studio," the pop star said in a statement. "Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most."
