Britney Spears Is ‘Embarrassed’ After Release of DUI Arrest Videos: ‘She Just Wants to Move On’ (Exclusive)

Britney Spears wants to put her DUI arrest in the rearview mirror.

“Britney is embarrassed by all of the details and videos coming out from one of the most traumatic, regretful nights of her life,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “She feels it’s cruel, especially after she went to rehab and put in the work to make amends. She just wants to move on.”

Us Weekly has reached out to Spears’ rep for comment.

Spears, 44, was taken into police custody on March 4 after an anonymous caller reported that she had been “traveling at high speeds and swerving.” A police report exclusively obtained by Us earlier this week offered more details about the evening of her arrest, revealing that officers observed the singer illegally crossing into another lane by “approximately” two feet on multiple occasions.

While they turned on police sirens, Spears “continued to drive” and “did not immediately react,” the report read. There was a “distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage” when Spears was ultimately pulled over.

“I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you,” Spears told an officer, according to the report. “I’m an angel.”

The report stated that Spears admitted to taking multiple prescription drugs that day and hadn’t eaten in hours. Officers located what appeared to be a bottle labeled “Adderall” in her purse in addition to an empty wine glass in her cupholder. Spears allegedly “refused” to get out of the car initially.

Video footage of her arrest has since been released. Spears invited police officers to her home for lasagna and to use her pool in one video, published via TMZ on Thursday, May 21. A second video released the same day showed Spears getting handcuffed and taking a sobriety test.

Us previously reported that, following her arrest, Spears had been transported to a local hospital to get her blood drawn. Her blood registered under the legal limit.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a spokesperson for the singer told Us in March. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

Spears was eventually charged with driving under the influence on April 30 while in a treatment facility. She accepted a plea deal during a May 4 court hearing and was sentenced to 12 months of probation and one day in jail, which was credited with time served. Spears must also complete a DUI class and pay $571 in state-mandated fees. She was ordered to see a psychologist once a week and a psychiatrist twice a month as well.
