Calvin Harris Pulls Out of 2014 MTV EMAs “Due to Illness”

DJ superstar Calvin Harris has pulled out of his MTV European Music Awards performance -- get the details

This year's MTV European Music Awards will sadly have to go on without DJ superstar Calvin Harris, Us Weekly can confirm. The Scottish record producer was forced to pull out of the gig just 24 hours before taking the stage because of health issues.

"It's with deep regret that Calvin Harris will not be able to perform at the 2014 MTV EMA's this weekend due to illness," an MTV rep tells Us. "He sends his sincere apologies to all his fans."

Earlier today, the official Facebook page for the EMAs confirmed Harris' condition. "We have some really sad news," the site read. "Calvin Harris has taken ill and will not be able to perform at tomorrow's show. He sends his sincere apologies. Get well soon, Calvin!"

Harris, 30, also reportedly tweeted about his absence. "No EMAs for me this weekend," he tweeted, according to Daily Mail. "Got some heart problems. Heading home to see if it can be fixed x."

Nicki Minaj is set to host the big award show. Other performers include Alicia Keys, Ed Sheeran, U2, Enrique Iglesias, and Ariana Grande.

The EMAs will air on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 9 p.m. CET.
