His heart will go on. Céline Dion revealed in a new interview that she plans to get a tattoo of her late husband René Angélil’s heartbeat.
The “Power of Love” singer, 48, recently sat down with The Scene for a candid game of “This or That,” where she shared her preferences when it comes to fashion, pop culture and more.
When discussing her thoughts about tattoos versus piercings, the pop superstar shared her idea to get a permanent reminder of Angélil — who died at age 73 in January after battling throat cancer — emblazoned on her body.
“Since my husband passed away, they can make the tattoo as his heartbeat,” she said, motioning an EKG line in the air with her hand. “So, I might have his heartbeat on my body for the rest of my life.”
Prior to Angélil’s passing, Dion — who shared son René-Charles, 15, and twin boys Eddy and Nelson, both 5, with the deceased talent manager — explained why she used to not be a fan of body art.
“In tattoos, I’ve seen so many people that, they have tattoos when they’re young and they get older and the name changes,” she joked. “You know, it used to be ‘Louise’ and now it’s like, ‘Louis.’ You are goin’ down! It’s gravity, baby. It’s goin’ down.”
Dion (who married Angélil in December 1994 when she was 26 years old) insisted that she is looking forward to the future despite losing her longtime love.
“I don’t care about comfort,” she told The Scene while discussing fashion and comfort. “The day you start thinking about comfort, you’re getting old. And I’m just starting, so I’m not getting old!”
