Dakota Johnson’s role in How to Be Single just came in use IRL. The actress and her longtime on-again, off-again boyfriend, Matthew Hitt, have called it quits, a source confirms to Us Weekly.
The pair dated for two years.
According to Just Jared, who was first to break the news, the duo ended things because of their hectic schedules. Johnson — who is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson — is currently in Vancouver, British Columbia, shooting the racy Fifty Shades trilogy. She is reprising her role as Anastasia Steele, opposite Jamie Dornan, who stars as Christian Grey. Hitt is the singer for the indie rock band the Drowners.
During a September 2015 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Johnson, 26, said she was single at the time. As Us Weekly reported, the Hollywood scion and the musician had previously split in February 2015.
"Her life was getting too crazy and it wasn't something that he wanted to be a part of," a source told Us at the time, referring to her role in Fifty Shades. Hitt and Johnson then briefly reunited in May.
