Dave Legeno Dead: Harry Potter Star Who Played Fenrir Greyback Reportedly Dies at 50 During Hike

Harry Potter actor Dave Legeno, who played villain Fenrir Greybac in the J.K. Rowling film series, was reportedly found dead at the age of 50 during a hike on Sunday, July 6

Dave Legeno has died at the age of 50, TMZ reports. The British actor—best known for his work in the Harry Potter film series as villain Fenrir Greyback—was found dead in Death Valley National Park, Calif. on Sunday, July 6.

Legeno’s body was reportedly found by a pair of hikers. A California high patrol helicopter was called to the scene. The Inyo County Sheriff’s Department told TMZ that Legeno died of heat related issues. No other information was provided.

Legeno first joined the Harry Potter cast in the series’ sixth installment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2009. He reprised his role in parts 1 and 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He also lent his voice to some of the franchise’s video games. Other credits include Snatch, Snow White and the Huntsman and the TV series Borgia.

According to TMZ, Legeno is survived by a daughter in her 20s.
