Denise Richards is done with marriage after her acrimonious split from estranged husband Aaron Phypers.
“Will I ever get married again? Abso-f***ing-lutely not. I don’t want that piece of paper,” the Starship Troopers actress, 55, shared on Jenny McCarthy’s “The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show” podcast on Tuesday, October 13.
Richards said she felt that she “was a product and this was a business arrangement” in her marriage to Phypers, 54, adding, “This was not a marriage.”
“That part, I can’t do again. I’m 0 for 2. I am,” she said, referring to her separation from Phypers and previous divorce from actor Charlie Sheen.
Richards clarified, however, that “I would have a partner, and I want to fall in love again. … I don’t want to be bitter, I don’t want to be cold.”
Richards and Phypers got married in September 2018, but the relationship came crashing down seven years later when Phypers filed for divorce in July 2025, citing irreconcilable differences.
Richards alleged that Phypers was physically abusive throughout their marriage, filing for a restraining order against him that same month. Phypers denied the allegations, telling Us in a statement in July 2025, “I want to address recent rumors and speculation that have surfaced regarding my relationship with my wife, Denise Richards. Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone.”
In November 2025, Richards was granted a permanent restraining order against her ex.
As their divorce continues to make its way through the courts, Richards told McCarthy, 53, on Tuesday, that her relationship with Phypers is her single regret in life.
“I wasn’t looking for a relationship, but it happened,” she said of meeting Phypers, who worked at a wellness center when they met. “It was a good time in my life, too, where my girls were getting a bit older and everything was behind me with Charlie.”
She continued, “I certainly, looking back, wish I never set foot into his wellness place ever. I don’t have any regrets in my life. I’ve always been the type that everything’s a lesson — the challenges, as painful as they can be, I don’t regret it. This, I regret. I’ve never regretted anything.”
Richards said that she is looking forward to the divorce eventually being finalized so she can move past Phypers.
“I’m friends, also, with all of my exes, or friendly [with them]. If I ran into them, it would be like, ‘Hey!’ I can’t think of one that that wouldn’t happen, except him,” she said.
She later revealed, “I have a hard time looking at pictures of us during the course of the years that we were together.”
“So, even looking at pictures of us, I can’t even look at it. It’s such a deep pain and regret and betrayal,” she continued. “I think it was fake on his part. Even the happy times of us being on a trip or whatever, I can’t even look at it because I believe it wasn’t even real. I’ve learned so much about him and our marriage during the separation, more than I did during the marriage. I can’t wait until my divorce is final. I will delete every memory [of him] and I’ve never done that before. It’s that bad.”
