The Quaids are quitting each other.
Kimberly Buffington-Quaid has filed for divorce from actor Dennis Quaid, TMZ reports.
Citing court papers, the site says that Buffington-Quaid filed a petition that reads, "The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities … that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation."
After marrying in 2004, Footloose star Quaid, 57, and Buffington-Quaid welcomed twins Thomas and Zoe in 2007; the newborns nearly died in the hospital after medical staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical center accidentally gave them a huge overdose of the drug Heparin. After filing a lawsuit with the hospital and the drug manufacturer, the couple was awarded $750,000.
In the divorce petition, Kimberly asks for spousal support and for their community assets to be fairly divided. For now, the couple share custody of the kids, and the the children cannot be taken out of state or school without a mutual agreement or a judges' order.
While Kimberly will temporarily hold onto the family's residence in Malibu and the Mercedes, Dennis gets the Cadillac Escalade and a condo, TMZ reports. They will, however, share the Range Rover, according to the papers.
Both are ordered no to say "vulgar, profane, obscene or indecent" things to each other, the papers say.
This was the the third marriage for Quaid. He and Meg Ryan divorced in 2001 and share 19-year-old son Jack, who stars in The Hunger Games; he and actress PJ Soles divorced in 1983 after five years together.
