Now they've really got bad blood! Diplo was featured in GQ's February 2015 list of "musicians that matter," but he used the opportunity to address his ongoing drama with Taylor Swift.
The DJ, 36, first started the public spat last November when he memorably tweeted that "someone should make a kickstarter to get taylor swift a booty." Swift's bestie Lorde quickly rushed to her pal's defense and dissed Diplo's "tiny penis." (The root of Diplo's feud is presumably his ex-girlfriend Katy Perry, whom Us Weekly confirmed last fall is the subject of Swift's single "Bad Blood.")
In his latest comments about the "Blank Space" singer, Diplo noted to GQ: "Taylor Swift is very strategic with her friends and enemies. And I know lots of secrets. I can't divulge, but I know a lot of stuff about her. And I'm scared. I'm scared for my life."
He also called out Swift's fans as "really crazy," recalling how followers reacted to his Kickstarter joke. "They threatened to murder me and stuff," he claimed. "It's really bizarre, and disgusting. They're the worst people in the world." See some of the crazy things Taylor's fans have done for her.
The DJ said he liked Swift's music, too, but not to that extreme. "Yeah. And I'm a pretty big fan," he revealed. "But they're like 'I wish your kids had Down syndrome.' They're so evil. I dissed Lady Gaga before, and the gays were never even this mean. They're funny. These people are like mean-spirited, evil human beings. I'm not a politician. I shouldn't have to be under the microscope for people like that.?"
While rehashing his drama to GQ, Diplo noted that he was frustrated about how much attention he received for what he saw as a "tongue-in-cheek joke on both sides."
"It's really dumb," he complained. "So many great albums came out that week, and all people talked about, on all the big press, was Me vs. Lorde, and Kim Kardashian's butt."
Despite their contentious history, Diplo said he and Lorde were cool. "It's funny," Diplo commented, "because me and Lorde, we're actually friends, and it was a funny, in-jest conversation. So many tabloids used it to make it story, when it was not."
As for Taylor? "I think Taylor Swift is such an impactful character," he noted of the 1989 hitmaker, 25. "That it was because she was involved that it became really big."
