Dolly Parton’s Team Reveals All the Projects She Was Working On ‘Until the Day She Died’

Dolly Parton’s team is honoring her legacy by revealing the projects that were in development prior to her death.

In a Wednesday, August 26, press release, Parton’s team shared that she was actively working on the following projects: Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops (celebrating National Truck Driver Appreciation Week beginning September 13), Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel (stays begin September 14), Dolly Dolls (launching online September 15), Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum (grand opening September 29), Dolly’s Cup of Ambition Coffee (launching online September 29; retail launch spring 2027) and Dolly on the Holly (coming holiday 2026).

Further projects included: Dolly: A True Original Musical on Broadway (previews begin December 7; opening night January 19, 2027, with tickets currently on sale through November 21, 2027), Kendra Scott x Dolly – The 9 to 5 Collection (launching January 2027), Dolly’s Dog Treats (coming early 2027) and Dolly Bedding & Home Decor (coming Q3 2027).

Details on those projects and more in the works — including a Dolly avatar show, a Dolly Musical documentary, a Dolly biopic, a Dolly docuseries, a Dolly scripted series, a Billy the Kid animated series — will be announced at a later date.

A YouTube video shared on Wednesday showed behind-the-scenes snippets of Parton’s projects, with the footage being filmed in both 2025 and 2026.

“Dolly worked up until the day she died. She loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy. Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked, for the past several years to build a project roadmap that will guide us for decades to come,” longtime manager Danny Nozell said in a statement.

Her manager continued, “As the leader of the team responsible for overseeing her legacy, we will ensure the many dreams she had yet to fulfill are brought to life. Many projects were in various stages of development, and we want to be transparent with her fans about this fact. If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it.”

News broke on Tuesday, August 25, that Parton died after a brief battle with an undisclosed form of cancer. She was 80.

Parton’s rep shared that a “small, private service will be held for immediate family” in the coming days, while her “fans and friends from around the world are encouraged to pay tribute to Dolly” on social media and her website, per the singer’s request. The family asked for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in lieu of flowers.

“Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee,” read a statement from Parton’s rep. “A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth and kindness that made us all feel like family.”

The statement continued: “Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.”
