Just wow! Eddie Redmayne scored his first Oscar on Sunday night and couldn’t have reacted more perfectly. The British hunk was awarded Best Actor for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything and after making his way up to the stage, let out the most perfect “wow” ever.
“Thank you. Thank you. I don’t think I’m capable of articulating quite how I feel right now,” a completely shocked Redmayne told the crowd before taking a moment to pause and shout “Wow!” “I’m fully aware that I am a lucky, lucky man. This Oscar belongs to all of those people around the world battling ALS,” he continued.
“It belongs to one exceptional family – Stephen, Jane and the Hawking children. I will be his custodian. I will be at his beck and call. I’ll wait on him hand and foot. Thank you to Hannah, my wife,” he concluded, giving his ladylove a shout-out. “I love you — we have a new fella coming to share our apartment.”
Redmayne beat out nominees Steve Carell, Bradley Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Michael Keaton.
