Still a touchy subject. Emma Stone briefly spoke about her ex Andrew Garfield in Vogue’s October 2016 issue.
The La La Land actress, 27, and Garfield, 33, dated for four years after meeting on set of 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man. Stone played Gwen Stacy, the love interest of Garfield’s Marvel Comics superhero.
“[He’s] someone I still love very much,” Stone told the mag of her ex. “I’m really glad you’re sitting down so I can tell you,” she jokingly added.
Us Weekly confirmed in October 2015 that Stone and the Hacksaw Ridge actor called it quits. “They still have a lot of love for one another and they are on good terms with each other and remain close,” an insider told Us at the time. “It just wasn’t working.”
Stone has not been linked to anyone else since. “It’s been interesting,” she said. “It’s been a good year. And sad. Pros and cons.”
Stone has been focusing on her career following the split. She’ll next play the famous 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella de Vil in Cruella. Recently, she’s received praise for her musical drama La La Land, which won the People’s Choice award at the 41st Toronto International Film Festival last month. It hits theaters on December 16.
The movie is the third time that Stone has worked with Ryan Gosling. They’ve previously shared the big screen in Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011) and Gangster Squad (2013).
“It was nice to be friends with the person you’re doing all this crazy stuff with,” Stone told Vogue, “learning to ballroom dance or sing duets live.”
