There’s nothing like a good cause to bring exes together. Following 2010’s devastating earthquake in Haiti, actor Sean Penn has been working closely with the J/P Haitian Relief Organization to help rebuild the country and save the lives of its people.
This week the Oscar winner’s famous ex-wife Madonna, 55, has joined him in the ravaged country with her son Rocco Ritchie, 13. Together they’re working to help with the relief efforts and documenting some of their journey on Instagram.
Rocco (the superstar’s son with her second husband, director Guy Ritchie) posted a picture driving with Penn, 53, in Haiti with the caption, “Trouble is always here.”
Madonna and Rocco posed with a Haitian hospital staff and some patients, and the Material Girl captioned the picture, “In the magnificent hospital Paul Farmer has built in Mirebalais! Revolution of Love in Haiti.”
Though they divorced in 1987 after four volatile years together, Penn and Madonna have remained friends. She married film director Guy Ritchie in December 2000, four months after giving birth to Rocco. The couple divorced in 2008. Madonna is also mom to Lourdes Leon, 17, adopted son David Ritchie, 8, and adopted daughter Mercy James, 7.
Penn recently attended Madonna’s MDNA concert in Los Angeles where a concert-goer told Us Weekly that “their chemistry was off the charts.” The famed ex was gushing about his former bride saying, “She’s so hot!”
Rocco has been posting photos from Haiti’s poverty-stricken areas with captions like “The poorest kids are yet the happiest” and “I’m in the poorest and most dangerous slum in the world. City Soleil. #support.”
