Gigi Hadid will not be following in her mother's footsteps. Strutting her stuff on the red carpet outside L.A.'s Nokia Theatre for the 2014 American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 23, the model, 19, was emphatic about not joining the ranks of reality TV stars like her mom, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills standout Yolanda Foster.
Asked whether she's been keeping up with season five of the Bravo series, Hadid told Us Weekly she doesn't watch. "My mom is my mom, and that's my view of it. I think the things that are important for me to hear, you know, it's her group of friends, and if I'm going to hear about them, I don't need to watch it on TV," she explained.
The stunning blonde went on to say that while she appears on "a couple episodes this season," she has no desire to do reality TV full-time. "I was on a couple of episodes to try and support my mom, and obviously for it to make sense because I'm her daughter, but I really am working hard to make my modeling career my own and make a name for myself," she told Us.
"I don't want to be a reality star," she added. "I want to focus on my own career." (Hadid has modeled for Guess, Vogue, Mark Jacobs, Chanel, and Tom Ford, among others; she also appeared in the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue as one of the magazine's 12 rookies.)
Another priority on her list? Her recently rekindled romance with pop singer Cody Simpson, whom she dated for a year before their split in May. "I'm back together with Cody," she confirmed to Us on the red carpet. "It's great. He is such a great guy."
The reason it didn't work out before, she added, was their "crazy schedules," which they're learning to manage now. "We are just trying to balance it and make time when we can," she explained. "So far it's working out."
