Good Morning America‘s Ginger Zee has suffered a debilitating injury days before the Dancing With the Stars finale on Monday, May 23.
The meteorologist injured her pelvis earlier this week during rehearsals for a contemporary routine with her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy.
“Ginger’s injury is really serious,” a source from the show tells Us Weekly exclusively. “Right now she can’t rehearse the full dance, and Jenna Johnson is standing in during blocking. She will not know until the show on Monday if she can complete the two dances, a contemporary dance and the freestyle.”
“I can’t even do some of the moves. I’m not allowed to,” Zee, 35, said in a video that showed dance pro Johnson rehearsing in her place. “I’m not even close to where I need to be to perform.”
Zee, who is competing against Nyle DiMarco and Paige VanZant in the DWTS finale, told ABC News that she continued to rehearse for the show this week after feeling a back spasm that “takes your breath away.”
The new mom, who welcomed son Adrian with husband Ben Aaron in December, ended up seeing a physical therapist for the show and explained that her pelvis is “very loose and unstable … because I just had a baby.”
She added that she is doing more physical therapy to manage her pain so that she can compete on Monday. “We’re going to do everything we can.”
The Dancing With the Stars finale airs on ABC over two nights starting Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
