Gypsy Rose Blanchard is fighting off fake social media accounts claiming to be her as she mourns the death of ex-fiancé Ken Urker.
“I’m currently grieving the loss of Ken, and I want to thank everyone who has been checking on me and showing their love and support,” Blanchard, 35, began in a notice to her Instagram followers on Monday, October 26.
“I have been made aware of several fake accounts on TikTok and other social media platforms that are going live, offering paid subscriptions, and asking for money,” the My Time to Stand author continued. “Please know that I will not be going live on any platform, and I am not offering paid subscriptions or asking for money.”
Blanchard noted that her “only official public platform is my Instagram.”
“If you see any accounts claiming to be me, or any activity that seems suspicious, please do not send money, share personal information, or engage with them,” she concluded. “If you see impersonation, please report it directly to the platform. Thank you for looking out, for your kindness, and for giving us the space we need right now.”
Blanchard’s message comes weeks after Urker was found dead at a home in Raceland, Louisiana, on October 1 — his 34th birthday.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office told Us at the time that officers “responded to a residence after receiving a call at 6:15 p.m.” Police confirmed Urker “was found dead upon arrival,” adding, “At this time, we are continuing the death investigation.”
Urker’s cause of death has not yet been revealed. Local police reports indicated the presence of drug paraphernalia on the scene.
Blanchard and Urker began dating in 2017 when he wrote a letter to the Louisiana native in prison following the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest. (Gypsy served roughly eight years of a 10-year sentence in prison from 2016 to 2023 for her involvement in the murder of her mom, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.)
Urker proposed to Gypsy during a prison visit in October 2018, although the pair split the following August. Gypsy later tied the knot with Ryan Anderson in July 2022. She and Anderson remained married through her release from prison, but they split in early 2024. (Their divorce was finalized by the end of the year.)
Following her release from prison, Gypsy reconnected with Urker, whom she began dating again after her split from Anderson. The pair welcomed daughter Aurora in December 2024.
Gypsy and Urker called it quits shortly before his death, although they continued to coparent their daughter.
After Urker died, Gypsy launched a Change.org petition named “Kenan’s Law” to combat online cyberbullying and reform how social media platforms handle targeted harassment. She claimed that Urker faced intense online scrutiny before his death.
“Ken recently passed away, official cause of death is pending toxicology results,” she wrote in a recently updated description on the petition’s page. “We do know with 100 percent [certainty] that it was not suicide.”
She continued, “Regardless this petition is not about the cause of death itself. It is about the extreme cyberbullying that lead [sic] up to his passing. Cyberbullying played a huge role in damaging Ken‘s mental health and subsequently causing him to use unhealthy coping strategies, such as drugs and alcohol.”
