Unlucky number 13. Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton have split after 13 years together, the actress' rep confirms to Us Weekly.
"Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children," her rep tells Us. "We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time."
The British actress and acclaimed American director, though never married, share two children: son Billy, 11, and daughter Nell, 7. Dividing assets should hopefully not be too much of an issue for the quirky pair, who live in two adjoining houses in London.
Burton, 56, and Carter, 48, first met on the 2001 set of Planet of the Apes, which was directed by Burton, and continued to collaborate on additional films like Big Fish (2003), Corpse Bride (2005), Sweeney Todd (2007), and Alice in Wonderland (2010).
Last fall, the couple made headlines after Burton was photographed kissing a mysterious blonde woman on the lips. Carter's rep, however, slammed the piece to Us, calling it an "absolute nonsense story." The rep added then: "The pictures were taken whilst they were out and the large group includes family, friends, and work colleagues."
Carter and Burton last attended an event together in London last month, where they gushed about their love for Christmas. Carter told Us Weekly at the event that Burton was a "big kid" and "he loves [Christmas] stuff as much as the kids."
