Hogan’s Heroes’ Cynthia Lynn Dies at 76, One of the Show’s Last Surviving Stars

Cynthia Lynn, one of the last surviving members of Hogan's Heroes, has died at the age of 76.

It's a sad day for fans of Hogan's Heroes. The popular '60s comedy lost one of its last surviving cast members, Cynthia Lynn, on Monday, March 10, her daughter, Lisa Brando, wrote on Facebook. Lynn, who was 76 at the time of her death, played Colonel Klink's secretary Fraulein Helga, the pretty blonde with braided hair, during the show's first season. She also appeared throughout the series' six seasons.

Born in Riga, Latvia with the name Zinta Valda Zimilis, the actress later moved to the U.S. Lynn passed from sudden multiple organ failure in Panorama City, Calif. and is survived by her daughter Lisa Brando, whose father was late screen and stage legend Marlon Brando. Brando and Lynn met on the set of 1964's Bedtime Stories

Lisa took to Facebook on Monday to mourn the loss of her mother.

"May all the fans of my mother light candles for her tonight……… And pray for us all and her loving fiance that is beside himself right now. Thank you all so very much……… This happened with NO WARNING……. She died about 1 hour ago…. OMG OMG OMG I can't even belive this is real," she wrote. 

Lisa created a Memorial Fund in the hopes of raising $100,000 for Lynn's service. 

"She did not have any money and I KNOW that she wanted to have CELEBRATION of life for her family and fans," Lisa wrote on the fund's site. "She wanted to be sure that people celebrated with champagne and remembered all the great times."
