Shooting for the stars! Valeria Lukyanova, better known to the public as “Human Barbie,” is on a mission to prove she’s more than just a doppelgänger for the world’s most famous doll. The Ukrainian model just released her debut single, “Jack Your Barbie,” and is preparing for what Billboard calls a “global DJ tour and meditative mission.”
Lukyanova teamed up with Ukrainian DJ Sender for the EDM song, which she released via SoundCloud this week. “True house music fans should know that ‘In the beginning there was Jack and Jack had a groove,'” she told Billboard, quoting Chuck Roberts’ words from the 1987 track “My House” by Rhythm Control. “I want your Barbies to jack.”
According to Billboard, Lukyanova is working on several original songs with Sender, some of which will feature her singing in “ancient forgotten languages…meant to induce a meditative state in the listener.”
Indeed, a press release from the controversial model’s website in September said she would deliver “pure deep meditation during her set with amazing sounds and mudras show.” Performances will be created to increase “the rhythm and [change] the consciousness of the audience.”
Lukyanova — who once claimed in a Cosmo Q&A that she is able to speak to aliens and travel through time — echoed those plans in her interview with Billboard, saying she hoped to help people tap into their inner powers.
“When I’m singing, it’s like a deep trance for me. Music will help people relax and make a journey into their hidden places inside,” she said. “I hope it feels for them like something familiar but forgotten. You need to close your eyes and go deep within, like nothing exists but you and the music.”
