No longer a team! Iggy Azalea and Nick Young announced on Sunday, June 19, that they split and have called off their engagement. The pair have been trying to repair their relationship since the Lakers basketball guard was caught allegedly admitting to cheating in a leaked video.
Despite the not so happily ever after, Azalea, 26, and Young, 31, have had some good moments. Here, Us Weekly has recapped their rocky romance:
An Uneventful First Meet-and-Greet, 2013
Azalea revealed in August 2015 that it wasn’t love at first sight when she met Young at a pool party. In fact, she didn’t recall meeting him until they were dating for a few months. “[We’d met] a few years prior to that, and I didn’t know and I hated him,” she told The Daily Telegraph. “I thought he was an a–hole.”
Twitter Brought Them Together, 2014
The stars finally hit it off after Young tweeted that he was crushing on her on #WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday). Azalea’s friends noticed and told the Australian rapper about the cute comment. “I thought he was pretty handsome, so I went on a date with him,” she told The Daily Telegraph in August 2015. To where, exactly? The singer later told TMZ that the two walked around Target on their first date.

Azalea canceled her 2015 Great Escape tour after initially pushing back shows because of production delays. Three months earlier, she temporarily quit social media after getting cyber bullied for paparazzi photos that showed her butt in a bikini. In June 2015, insiders told Us that Azalea “was difficult” while filming Britney Spears’ “Pretty Girls” music video.

Young popped the question to the “Fancy” singer on his 30th birthday. The athlete proposed in front of all their friends during a carnival-themed party and presented her with an 8.15-carat Fancy Intense yellow center stone. The bauble featured 2.28 carats of white diamonds set onto 18-carat white gold.
“Nick was very involved in designing the ring. That same month, Azalea tried on wedding dresses during an appearance on James Corden’s The Late Late Show. “Nick wants to have R. Kelly perform at our wedding so he can sing ‘Marry the P—y’ at our wedding,” she said at the time. She added: “[I’m going to have] four bridesmaids. Literally everyone I’m friends with. Demi Lovato’s going to be one of my bridesmaids.”

What’s going on? Azalea revealed that she and Young were postponing their wedding. “I’m planning my wedding, actually moved my wedding ’cause I have to tour so my wedding plans are changing,” she said during Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show. “It was going to happen at the end of the year, but now I have to go to work so we’ll probably have to wait until the end of the next basketball season to do that. So that kind of is a bit sucky, but it’s all right.”

Trouble in paradise! After postponing their wedding, a video surfaced of Young allegedly admitting to cheating on his bride-to-be. The video was secretly taped by Young’s Lakers teammate D’Angelo Russell.
“You was 30, she was 19? What about Amber Rose, you ain’t never tried?” Russell, 20, could be heard on the tape. Young replied: “No, she knows my girl.”
Young broke his silence about the leaked video during a press conference. “I think it’s best me and D’Angelo handle our situation in a private manner. It’s something we need to talk about. What happened is what happened. We’ve got to work on it,” he said. Additionally, ESPN reported that there was no trust left in the Lakers’ locker room.

It’s all good — for now. Azalea tweeted that she and Young were very much still together despite their recent turmoil. “I’ll call a U-Haul and we can have his sh-t outta there in 10 min … just say the words boo!” a commenter tweeted to her. She countered: “lol, errrrr…. nick and i are good babe.”

Azalea still appeared unsure about the relationship following Young’s scandal. “I’m still figuring it all out. It’s still fresh,” she said during a radio interview on The Bert Show. “I think last year, the year that I had, has kind of taught me maybe it’s best to just wait until it’s like a little more past tense before you kind of speak about necessarily how you feel about something. Because when you’re in the heat of the moment or things are still progressing or coming out, and you’re getting new information, the way you feel about things can change really quickly. It can go up and down. I’m just kind of still figuring it out.”

The couple announced their breakup on social media. “Unfortunately although I love Nick and have tried and tried to rebuild my trust in him — it’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to,” Azalea wrote in an Instagram post. “I genuinely wish Nick the best. It’s never easy to part ways with the person you planned your entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page.” Young, meanwhile, tweeted: “Single.”
