Who dat, who dat? Iggy Azalea is known as much for her Twitter outbursts and her public breaks from the social media site as for her music. And on Tuesday, Dec. 1, the Australian rapper returned after a brief hiatus to call out those questioning her career.
“Hi guys i know its been a while,” she began. “We are days from 2016, but i came online today and saw its still cool to try and discredit my 2014 accomplishments. LOL, f—king hell. Seems exhausting. Anyway – Ive been enjoying the holiday season and i hope you all have too.”
The tweets come after singer Erykah Badu dissed Azalea, 25, at the 2015 Soul Train Awards on Sunday, Nov. 29. While hosting the show, Badu, 44, pretended to take a phone call from the “Fancy” emcee, saying, “Oh no, you can come, because what you’re doing definitely ain’t rap!”
After her initial tweets, Azalea proceeded to update fans on her new music, tweeting, “I dont really know what im doing with my music release; but im finished (except for getting the features recorded) Right now i live in america and am very close to the Def Jam team; but im actually signed out of the UK. Things are complicated. Im ready with my music but i am also trying to restructure some things to work smoother and better for me. So we are all kind of still just figuring out how things should work and id guess thats going to take a few weeks.”
Things took a sadder turn when she added that one of her horses might have Lyme disease.
“i hope he will get better, but its already been 3 months without riding him and he may have to go back to the east coast,” she continued. “so im a little heart broken but still hopeful about things. Defender is doing fine and has been consoling me. lol.”
She concluded by signing off social media for the rest of the year, writing, “I'll let you guys know if i get any updates, but if not… see you next year! enjoy the rest of 2015. xoxo.”
