Iman is finding healing through words. The supermodel posted a touching quote to her Instagram account on Wednesday, February 10, exactly one month following the death of her husband, music legend David Bowie.
“Each tear is a poet, a healer, a teacher,” she wrote, quoting writer Rune Lazuli.
The 60-year-old supermodel has quietly paid tribute to Bowie via social media in the last month, sometimes with meaningful quotes, and other times with throwback photos of the iconic musician.
“The struggle is real, but so is God,” she posted shortly after the “Blackstar” singer’s death on January 10. (He had been privately battling liver cancer for a year and a half before his death at age 69.)
The couple first met in 1990 when they were set up by their hairdresser, and Bowie won over the Somalia-born beauty. They wed in 1992, and shared a daughter together, 15-year-old Alexandria.
“Iman is torn apart,” a source close to the couple told Us Weekly last month. “Iman is staying strong for Lexi.”
A friend of Bowie told Us that the couple were so in love and were each others’ biggest support even through Bowie’s 2014 cancer diagnosis.
“They were romantic until the end,” the pal told Us. “They made time for date nights. He would write her letters and poems. It was like they were still young lovers.”
