Jackson Rathbone is counting his lucky stars. The Twilight alum was involved in a scary incident earlier today when his plane had to make an emergency landing after it lost an engine mid-flight.

"We were on @jetblue flight 1416 to Austin from Long Beach. Our right engine exploded and our cabin filled with smoke," the 29-year-old recounted on his WhoSay page. "The oxygen masks did not deploy, but the brave stewardesses came around and manually deployed them. It was rough, the plane was rocking."

Rathbone was joined at the time by his wife Sheila and their 2-year-old son Monroe. He noted that he prayed and held his family in his arms as they touched the ground.

"We were told to brace as we careened sharply back towards land. Guided by our pilot, and I believe our guardian angels, we landed safely," he continued. He then grabbed his son and jumped down the inflated ramp. "We left all our personal effects on board. Who cares. We were alive," he wrote. "We're safe. I'm grateful."
