Hey you guyssssss — Chunk is looking good! Jeff Cohen, who played the lovable overweight kid in the 1985 classic The Goonies, looked unrecognizable while attending the Variety & Women in Film pre-Emmys event in L.A. on Friday, Sept. 18.
It’s been decades since Cohen, 41, shook his stomach in the Steven Spielberg-directed adventure comedy. The former actor has slimmed down, and now rocks a shaved head instead of brunette curls.
“Chunk in Goonies,” his Twitter bio reads. “(please don’t hold that against me).”
Cohen’s days of searching for pirate treasure may be over, but his time in Hollywood isn’t. Now an attorney, the child star graduated from UCLA School of Law in 2000, and co-founded the Beverly Hills entertainment law firm Cohen Gardner LLP in 2002. (He last acted in the TV movie Perfect Harmony in 1991.)
The Goonies also starred Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, and Jonathan Ke Quan. Back in July, screenwriter Chris Columbus confirmed that a remake is in the works. (Never say die!)
“There are a lot of writers who are interested in writing Goonies, but we’re very protective because it’s such a well-loved movie,” Columbus, 57, told HuffPost Live at the time. “The Goonies have aged 30 years, so there was a magic about that particular cast. How do you make it work now? That’s a difficult challenge.”
