Jen Hamilton joked about entering a “lavender marriage” with influencer Chris Olsen amid her split from husband Brian Hamilton.
“Love wins,” Jen, 35, wrote over a duetted Instagram video with Olsen, 28, on Tuesday, July 28. In the split-screen clip, Olsen got down on one knee and presented a rose-shaped adult toy. Jen jokingly accepted the proposal, mouthing the word “yes” and holding up half of a heart with one hand as she pulled out a matching adult toy.
“Due to our horrifying (slightly) similar situations, I’m officially proposing a lavender marriage to Jen Hamilton,” Olsen, who recently ended his 8-month relationship with boyfriend Harrison Dockerty, wrote over his side of the video.
A lavender marriage is a union of convenience between a man and a woman when one or both partners are LGBTQ+, often designed to hide their sexual orientations and avoid outdated but pervasive social stigmas.
“I accept,” Jen added in the video’s caption.
The lighthearted video comes weeks after Jen confirmed her split from Brian after nearly 14 years of marriage, claiming her now-estranged husband was living a “double life.”
“Yes, we are separating,” the content creator said in a TikTok video in June, sharing a joint statement with her ex. “This comes with enormous pain for the both of us but also gratitude for the 15 years of shared history, love, and friendship. What we are committed to is loving each other well through this transition and placing the wellbeing of the family we created at the center.”
Jen and Brian share sons Ellis and Luke.
Jen later shared more details about the breakup, claiming that Brian lived an entirely different existence with another woman while she worked as a nurse. (The influencer has stepped back from her nursing career amid their divorce.)
“Yes, he had a double life with a woman who is 56 years old,” Jen said in an Instagram video on Monday, July 27. “Yes, I did leave him. Should have left way earlier. Giving myself grace. But I am so fortunate to have the means and resources to be able to leave a bad relationship. There are so many women who are unable to do so [due to] finances, resources, etc.”
Amid her own divorce battle, Jen and a group of friends created the Sisterhood of Solidarity, a line of tees and sweatshirts where 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to nonprofits that help women access resources to help them escape abusive, toxic and dangerous relationships. The merch has since raised more than $70,000.
“Love conquers all,” Jen captioned a video about the milestone on Tuesday.
