Jennie Garth Claims Ian Ziering Tried to Make Moves on Her on Beverly Hills, 90210 Set

Jennie Garth said her 90210 costar Ian Ziering once tried to make moves on her on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210: "He wanted to go in the garage before our kissing scene and practice"

Kelly and Steve in real life?! According to Jennie Garth, her Beverly Hills, 90210 costar and on-screen boyfriend Ian Ziering tried really hard to make some moves offscreen during the heyday of their TV fame in the ’90s.

The newly engaged actress, 43, sat with Meredith Vieira on Wednesday, May 6, where she revealed the amazing set secret, which was one of the tidbits mentioned in her 2014 memoir, Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde.

“I think you are referring to the story in my book about Ian,” Garth told Vieira of her castmate, who played Steve Sanders on the series. “He wanted to go in the garage before our kissing scene and practice. I was so young and naïve that I said, ‘Okay.'”

Garth said the two “practiced” in the garage. “And then I was like, ‘We’re good. Shoot it,'” she recalled. “That’s so awkward though.”

Eventually, the actress — who starred on the teen soap alongside Shannen Doherty, Luke Perry, and Jason Priestley — confronted Ziering. “We’ve talked about it,” she said with a smile. “I said, ‘I know what you were up to. I’m onto you now.’ I was a little naive.”

Garth’s latest remarks come nearly one year after she called out Ziering for insulting their former costar Tori Spelling and her warts-and-all reality show True Tori. “He does love Tori in the way we all love each other and the bond that we all share,” Garth claimed at the time. “It was a little harsh—just the words ‘How do you not watch a trainwreck?'”

Shifting gears from 90210, Garth recently spoke to Us Weekly about her engagement and planning for her upcoming wedding.

“I’m doing it myself,” she told Us of orchestrating her big day. “I like to call the shots and when I know what I want, the best person to make it happen usually is me. I don’t know if there’s other women out there that feel that way but I like to take on projects that seem completely huge and overwhelming, and then I like to break them down and sort of make them realistic. Then I feel so amazing after it’s all over with what I did with my time. For the wedding I’ll certainly be very hands on.”

As for her gorgeous black diamond rock from her fiancé David Abrams? “He did a beautiful job and I was blown away,” the Motrin spokesperson told Us of the ring designed by Ari Golriz. “I love it so much. It’s very specific to my personality.”
