"We were engaged for a year-and-a-half, and we just got married when it felt right," Pitt, then 36, has said of their decision to tie the knot.
In her vows, Aniston, then 31, promised to always make Pitt his "favorite banana milk shake." Pitt, in turn, vowed to "split the difference on the thermostat." While exchanging rings, the couple declared: "With this ring, I thee wed… so that all the world may know my love for you." Aniston later recalled: "Nothing is more moving than seeing a man cry at his own wedding."
Hollywood's golden couple split in January 2005 under speculation that the actor had turned to Mr. & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie.
"This decision is one of much thoughtful consideration," Pitt and Aniston said in a statement about their breakup. "We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another."
Jolie gave birth to the couple's twins Knox and Vivienne earlier this month. They join the pair's adopted brood of Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and biological daughter Shiloh, 2. Aniston, meanwhile, has been dating musician John Mayer.
