I love a good pair of jeans, but the second they start feeling stiff, restrictive or like I need to unbutton them after dinner, I’m out. Lately, I’ve been gravitating toward roomier denim that gives me the same freedom as my favorite lounge pants without looking like I left the house in pajamas. Jennifer Lawrence just gave me another reason to keep the comfy-jeans streak going.
On September 10, Lawrence stepped out in New York City wearing slouchy, light-wash jeans with a teal graphic top, brown suede clogs, an Hermès Lindy bag and oversized sunglasses. The loose, laid-back denim made the outfit look cool without sacrificing the comfort usually reserved for couch days. While I couldn’t confirm her exact pair, I found a roomy-chic lookalike for $60 on Amazon.

The Levi’s Cinch Baggy Jeans have the same relaxed shape, with a high rise and wide straight legs that don’t cling to the hips or thighs. An adjustable cinched waist adds definition up top, so you still get some shape despite all that glorious extra room below. They come in a similar light wash, along with cream, dark wash and several other options, with sizes ranging from 24 to 40-plus.
The relaxed fit doesn’t mean sacrificing your shape, either. One shopper said the jeans “fit beautifully” while “emphasizing the waist” and still “giving that relaxed, stylish baggy look.” That combination is exactly what I want when I’m trying to convince myself not to reach for sweatpants again.
They also sound surprisingly easy to wear all day. Another reviewer said the jeans “keep their shape throughout the day” and called the fabric “soft and comfortable, not too thick.” Between the roomy legs and soft feel, I can already picture wearing these bottoms through coffee runs, errands, lunch and straight into a night on the couch.
Throw on a fitted sweater and loafers for work, or copy Lawrence’s laid-back look with clogs and a casual top on the weekend. Either way, the roomy silhouette gives you the comfort of your lazy-day favorites while still looking like you got dressed on purpose. As someone who would happily live in lounge pants, that’s my kind of denim.
