Two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner was involved in a dangerous pub brawl in Phuket, Thailand, early Wednesday morning.
According to the Phuket Gazette, Renner, 40, and Vorasit Issara, a general manager at Sri Panwa Resort, were drinking at a bar when Issara, 31, dropped his glass on the floor around 4:30 a.m.
It sparked a fight between Issara and six men who "stabbed him in the stomach" and "chopped his neck with a rotor axe," according to Phuket City Police Superintendent Maj Gen Chonasit Wattanavrangku.
The six men — Jarungsak Sawangkij, Suriya Kraipian, Suchart Palae, Nareubate Tednok, Natthawut Kongplub and Wasan Poethong — were arrested and eventually confessed they attacked Vorasit and several of his associates. They were subsequently charged with attempted murder.
Vorasit is currently being treated at a nearby hospital for serious wounds to his stomach and partially severed neck tendons. He also suffered bruises to his body. Renner's rep tells TMZ the Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol star left the bar when the fight broke out and suffered no injuries.
