Producer Joel Silver’s assistant was found dead on the beach in Bora Bora on Thursday, Aug. 20, sources tell Us Weekly.
Carmel Musgrove, 28, was swimming alone in the ocean on Thursday and disappeared shortly afterward, according to a local Bora Bora paper.
“Joel Silver, his family and his staff are devastated by the passing of Carmel Musgrove," a spokesperson for Silver tells Us. "Carmel was a dear friend and respected colleague with a very bright future ahead of her. They will all miss her dearly."
Authorities are investigating the incident, and a source tells Us that her family is flying out to the island.
Musgrove was Silver’s assistant for several years, another source confirms to Us.
Silver, 63, was on the island to celebrate pal Jennifer Aniston’s Aug. 5 nuptials to Justin Theroux. As Us previously reported, the Lethal Weapon producer and the couple’s other A-list pals, including Jason Bateman, and Jimmy Kimmel and his wife, Molly McNearney, had joined the newlyweds in Bora Bora after their top-secret wedding at their L.A. home.
